REVIEW FROM SCREAM MAGAZINE
ARCKANUM - "Kostogher"
Necropolis

4 pts. (Reviewed in Scream # 34 by; Bjørn Nørsterud)
I never heard the first one, but this is part two of the four albums that Arckanum plan to release in this series. It's mostly fast black metal, but adds this special eerie feeling to it from time to time. Quite special.

ARCKANUM - Kostogher [Necropolis] 3.5/5

I enjoyed Arckanum's first album. Granted, it wasn't all that original or phenomenal, but it captured the essence of Black Metal with its dark raw quality. The same can be said for Kostogher. With this album, Arckanum seems to move a little
further into their own style and sound.
There is something distinct about Arckanum - the unique vocals and use of violin are two contributing factors. The first track of Kostogher is the most memorable of the
album. Its use of catchy female vocal lines and  medieval instruments make it stand out. The rest of the album takes off where Arckanum's previous release left off. Simple, but effective riffs played over blasting drums which successfully establishes the ancient mood Arckanum wishes to create. There's another track which consists solely of violin and female vocals towards the middle. This helps to break up the album a little, which at times becomes a bit monotonous.
